Originally a loft studio with a warehouse-like aesthetic, the “Powell St” project is a remarkable transformation into a modern 2-bedroom condo, expertly renovated by MDM Harp Contracting. This renovation embraced the industrial charm of the original space while introducing modern comforts and a functional layout.

Exposed beams and high ceilings reflect the building’s warehouse origins, giving the condo an open, airy feel. MDM Harp Contracting worked to maintain these authentic elements while reimagining the space to include two spacious bedrooms. The renovation emphasized creating a bright, open living area that flows naturally into the updated kitchen and dining spaces, offering a perfect balance of industrial style and contemporary living.

Wood floors were installed to warm up the space, adding a natural contrast to the raw, industrial elements. Clean white walls and modern fixtures further enhanced the loft’s sense of openness, while the newly designed bedrooms offer privacy and comfort without compromising the condo’s open-concept roots.

Evan Gallagher was our contractor for our kitchen renovation last summer, which involved completely gutting the old kitchen and installing new everything. We had never heard of a kitchen reno that went ‘according to plan’ - there were always delays, cost overruns, disagreements with the trades, etc. Now we can say we know of at least one!

Our renovation went exactly as Evan predicted it would, and within budget. Evan was always pleasant, professional and punctual. He knew exactly what he was doing and wrangled the trades, making sure they did what they were supposed to do, when they were supposed to do it. When one contractor was unable to delivery our counter-top on time, Evan found someone who could. And Evan is a skilled worker, able to perform some of the work himself and keep costs in line.

We’re thrilled with the end product and very happy we chose Evan Gallagher as our contractor. We plan to use him for our up-coming bathroom renovation.
